Just received my iPhone 16 pro today, thought I had it all set up but then it froze, now I can’t even get my passcode entered as it won’t open the screen and the whole phone feels really hot to touch.

If the Force Restart does not allow you to get back into the device and it remains stuck on the lock screen, then you need to contact Apple Support. The device is new and under warranty. If you have an Apple Store nearby, make a Genius Bar appointment. Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple
