Copying Apple Music Library from M2 MacBook Pro to Mavericks MacBook Pro with iTunes

Hi, I searched Community and did not find a similar situation:

Need to current M2 MacBook Pro Apple Music Library (plus "Music Library.musiclibrary" file) to my 2014 MacBook Pro with Mavericks with iTunes.

Cannot update MacOS on the old MacBook Pro.

Seems I cannot update/convert from iTunes to Apple Music.

iTunes library file on the Mavericks MacBook is different from that on the M2.

I cannot use Migration Assistant as it appears Mavericks machine needs more recent MacOS update.

How can I COPY (want to preserve what's on the Sequoia machine) to Mavericks machine and maintain folders and playlists?

Any assistance/guidance would GREATLY be appreciated.

Thanks and Happy New Year to all!

The Music library in recent macOS versions (since Catalina?) is incompatible with the old iTunes app.

But that old iTunes app can import the music files found in folders and drives into its own new library.

So, what you might try is:

• Copy, from your M2 Mac, the folder that contains your music media files onto an external usb drive. That folder is located at /Users/yourusername/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music.

• Connect that usb drive to the old MBP. Launch the iTunes app and then drag that folder onto the iTunes application window. iTunes will import and copy those music files into its own library.

Bear in mind that this may or may not (probably not) maintain playlists, but it should maintain folders.

I have an M2 pro and an older iMac 27. I have a Music library on the M2. I have iTunes on the iMac. You can "import" songs from the M2 to the iMac by using the import function in iTunes and selecting the albums or songs from the Music/Music/media or wherever you have set your library to store music files. The files/albums you select will be copied over. You can select a couple just to try it out. Selecting a couple hundred will take much longer ie an hour or so. The two computers have to share a network connection and appropriate access. The itunes should be configured to consolidate its library if you want it to be free standing.
