Migrating itunes files from old macbook pro to macbook air with Sonoma

I am trying to move my old itunes and music files from old macbook pro to my newer macbook air. I've got the files loaded in the music folder on my hard drive but when I open music and try to import the library .itl file it doesn't do anything

See Move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Community. You don't import the .itl, you option-start-Music and choose it.
