shortcut “Go to Home Screen”

I’ve been struggling trying to figure out how to correctly use the shortcut action “Go To Home Screen” using the “If” scripting option and other options.

For context, I successfully created the shortcut to open a specific file and even added it to my Home Screen but I would like to be able to press the Done button and get routed back to the Home Screen instead of sliding up to get back there… I thought I figured it out but I deleted the previous shortcut and can’t remember my steps.

I'm suspecting that there is something wrong in the logic of the "If" action as you coded it.

Could you post a screen shot of that part of your shortcut (or even the entire shortcut) so that we can take a look?

Otherwise try some debugging by placing the "Go to Home Screen" outside the "If" action to confirm that it works (it works on my end using iOS 18.2). Try also to place some "Show Alert" actions in both branches of the "If" action to see which one is executed. you'll probably find the the condition in the "If" statement is not exactly what you think it should do.

Thanks for the screenshot and the notes.

What you attempted will not work because the variable "File Path" is returning an actual character value such as "iCloud Drive > a Folder > a File", not the status of whether a file is open.

You won't be able to achieve what you seek as there is no way to test you tapped the "Done" button when the file is displayed. The status of the Files app (whether a file is open, for instance) is simply not available in Shortcuts.

I’ve tried so many variations but this is one example. Additionally, I believe trying and failing so many times messed with my ability to run shortcuts? That is unless it was the most recent iOS release? Now, I’m also running into latency issues with my simple shortcuts not loading. After clicking the customized Home Screen icon I see the second image below, and then it’ll randomly function/open minutes later even if I’ve moved to a different app or manually navigated to the page.

Thank you for your response, and I look forward to your feedback!
