PDF export failed: Method

So running Microsoft Word and adobe acrobat pro 2020. I used to have a dedicated button in the ribbon titled acrobat that would convert the word file into a pdf and open it in acrobat. I recently updated to acrobat pro 2020 from 2017 and now the button does not work. Best I can determine is that it's some issue with 62 bit vs 32 bit. In any event, my work around was to create a macro. Should be simple but despite my best efforts I consistently get this message PDF export failed: Method 'ExportAsFixedFormat' of object '_Document' failed.

Anyone got any ideas? I can of course export as pdf and then go to the file and open it but that's several extra steps.
