Apple Watch stops recording workouts unexpectedly

My watch has started aborting workouts spontaneously. I will be jogging along, feel a haptic tap and the watch will be saying “Looks like you are exercising“ or “do you want to record an outdoor walk?” I had thought I already was! It still seems to close the green exercise circle, but messes up time and distance. The battery still seems ok, but it was suggested that might be the problem. I’m also wearing sleeves, so maybe they are pausing the watch. How can I tell it to stop doing this, or do I need a new watch? It didn’t do this last winter when I wore sleeves.

Can it be that your sleeves are touching the display, kind of pressing the "End workout" button, which stops the workout?

Your sleeves might also press the Digital Crown that way.

If yes, you could try to enable the Water Lock from the Control Center, after starting your workout.

BTW: Happy New Year 🍾
