Is it safe to close my Mac during large iCloud backup?
Hello,
Can I close my laptop to travel in the middle of a huge cloud backup?
I have a Macbook with 900GB space and didn't actively use iCloud, when receiving the suggestion from my systems settings to backup the desktop to the cloud with just one simple toggle it moved all my desktops to cloud instantly: saving me a lot of space with the downside that the upload was over 700GB to cloud taking multiple days so far ( countryside Wifi ).
I'm now halfway after leaving my laptop plugged in an open for days, but have to travel so ill need to close my computer: will it harm my files to close my computer and reopen it again the next day? will it start the download session again automatically? or will I lose files that have not been backed up in the cloud yet?
Looking at my disk space it moved all my files from my desktop to iCloud: but hasn't finished uploading them all there.... meaning I had 700GB used on my desktop, which became only 4 GB as soon as i toggled the backup option > and iCloud became 1,5TB in used space: but the download is at 300gb out of 700GB only... Where does that leave my remaining files if i go offline during this time?
Hope anyone can help! i still have 48hrs left in this cottage before i need to travel :)
