Password required to wake MacBook Pro after sleep

Why does my MacBook pro sleep when I close it, and i have to wake it with a password?

It sleeps when you close the lid because that's what all Apple portable Macs have been designed to do. As to your question about requiring the password on wake:


System Settings -> Lock Screen -> set "Require password after..." to "Never".

I'd not recommend it, though, unless you're certain that you only ever have your Mac in a secure location. Otherwise anyone who gets access to it would be able to get into your data.
