Macbook Pro M3 Pro Chip External Monitor support without a dock

I have a macbook pro with the m3 pro chip inside and I heard that it supports up to 2 external monitors. Now is there a way to connect 2 monitors to the laptop without a dock/hub and that doesn't mirror the displays, but extends them? Since the m3 pro natively supports 2 external monitors, which means its not in need of a dock/hub with displaylink technology. I am not a fan of the displaylink technology at all.

Thank you

Assuming the MacBook Pro 14” model with M3 Pro…

You have three Thunderbolt ports and an HDMI port available. Wire two to Thunderbolt DisplayPort displays, or wire one Thunderbolt and one HDMI.

MacBook Pro (14-inch, M3 Pro or M3 Max, Nov 2023) - Tech Specs - Apple Support

  • HDMI port

  • Three Thunderbolt 4 ports with support for:
  • Charging
  • DisplayPort
  • Thunderbolt 4 (up to 40Gb/s)
  • USB 4 (up to 40Gb/s)

M3 Pro

Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display at 1 billion colors and:

  • Up to two external displays with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz over Thunderbolt, or one external display with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz over Thunderbolt and one external display with up to 4K resolution at 144Hz over HDMI
  • One external display supported at 8K resolution at 60Hz or one external display at 4K resolution at 240Hz over HDMI

Thunderbolt 4 digital video output

  • Support for native DisplayPort output over USB‑C (M3 Pro and M3 Max)

HDMI digital video output

  • Support for one display with up to 8K resolution at 60Hz or 4K resolution at 240Hz (M3 Pro and M3 Max)
