I have a work phone as my primary number but I can’t find it right now if I switch to primary on my phone will the data still be active on the other phone or will I have to manually reset it

A phone number can exist on only one device. You can switch it to a different device by asking your carrier to associate your number with a different IMEI, but then the phone that had that number will no longer work as a phone. You won’t lose any data on the other phone, however; just the phone number will go away.
