Changing User ID from Gmail to iCloud Email

The support article Change your Apple Account primary email address - Apple Support outlines various methods for changing the email address (Apple ID) you use for your Apple Account while retaining everything in your account. - There's special instructions if you want to change your Apple ID to an @icloud.com address.

"If you try to change your Apple ID to an @icloud.com email address that was created within the last 30 days, you will be asked to try again later."

Personally I would not use your iCloud address for the same Apple Account ID. Should you have trouble getting access to your account Apple will be sending help emails to the very email account you can't read.

Look at the name next to each post of the person posting. There's two of us so far and the ones not by me are all SLSusan. If that is not you then you are using SLSusan's account.
