Apple Watch Series 9 purchase

I bought one from Amazon Reused (Wharehouse). It was in the sealed in the original Apple packaging so it looks 100%, I am assuming to was an unused return. My iphone wants to update the watch software, but wants it 50% charged first. I have had it plugged in (to my laptop) for 1.5 hours , there is just the bullseye circular screen on the watch giving no charge indication, how long should it take to get to 50% please?

iPhone 14, iOS 18

First, do not assume that the Watch was unused. It's easy to repackage and reseal a used device (if it was in shrink wrap, then it probably was not new since Apple stopped using shrink wrap some time ago, though I can't confirm when).

If there's no charge indicator, that would be a hint that it's not actually charging at all. Something here may help:

If not, then it's probable that the Watch is defective and I'd suggest returning it, if it's still within Amazon's return period.

Thank you. Happily it is Ok, I got a usb c plug, clearly faster charging and after another 30 mins of so my IPhone started updating the software. You may be correct it is used, but it is immaculate, as new. disconnecting the charger and reconnecting brought up the greencharging sign and its now working. My first smart watch so I am getting to know it now

I appreciate your reply.
