Charging was on hold due to iphone temperature

Hello, I charged my iphone tonight while i was sleeping, with a cable connected to my computer, and when i woke up i can notice my iPhone is very hot and this message showed up. I don’t understand why would it get hot when i’m using my computer to charge it (and we all know it is very slow)

as you can see in the picture, it charged all the way up to 80% at 9 am

It appears you may have drained your battery completely. Was that the case? I wonder if having to charge from that state was a factor in this?

Some activities such as charging or a lot of computational activity (e.g., video), generate heat. Some warmth is to be anticipated.* "Keep your iPhone, the power adapter, and any wireless charger in a well-ventilated area when in use or charging."** Read this article about keeping your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures - If your iPhone or iPad gets too hot or too cold - Apple Support

It was a very weird thing for me to notice at the morning when i wake up that my iphone is very hot. I sleep with an air-conditioning and my room is always in a cold temperature. My computer was just turned on so my phone could charge but i wasn’t using it at all. I charge my iphone by this way because i know a bit about temperature risks and i feel better while charging it slowly, but i still don’t understand why it was hot just when i woke up

I want to talk about calibrate iphone’s battery; i’ve heard somewhere that you should let your iphone die (turns off at 0%) and then charging it until it reaches 100%, leave it for two more hours plugged in and then repeat all this process monthly. Should i do this?
