My photos app is using a ton of my battery and it’s running in the background. I have ICloud Photos turned off and background app refresh turned off. How do I fix this? My battery is draining fast and I have a brand new iPhone16 pro. I don’t use the photos app much but it’s being used in the background. Please help me!

It may be doing the initial indexing of your library on the new device. How long has it been that way, and how many photos and videos are in your library?
I have 810 photos and 49 videos. It has been draining my battery ever since I got my phone. Even today, I charged my phone to 90%, and within 2 hours of my phone being off, the battery went down to 69%. I have had my phone for about a week now.
I forgot to add that Photos uses almost all of my battery.
I have a 16, and I just looked-- Photos says 52%. My battery lasts all day.
So you lost 1/5 of your charge in 2 hours-- so it would last 10 hours?
Does it say 82% all day?
Yes, the battery would die in 10 hours of my phone being off. Photos usually stays around 80% background activity.
