Unexpected screen dimming on MacBook Air

My MacBook Air unexpectantly dims. I have adjusted brightness but still have the problem. It happens when I am reading a page but not keyboarding or not using the cursor.

Why is my Macbook Air screen dimming? Late 2020 MBA M1 This happens more and more frequently when all of a sudden my screen will dim like I turned the brightness down and I get these bursts of light across the bottom of the screen. Light keeps dimming on my Macbook Air I have gone to "displays" and unchecked "automatically adjust brightness" the way some have said that I should but it is not working. The computer just keeps dimming without me touching a thing. If I close it up and come back the settings are right back at the halfway dimmed default. Please help me before I throw it somewhere lol
