What am I doing wrong? I have chronic high pitch tinnitus that I am able to usually ignore, but when I wear the AirPod pro 2 as hearing aids, the tinnitus is impossible to ignore.

You're not doing anything wrong. This can happen with using any hearing aids, I didn't even notice that I had titinitus before getting hearing aids (not the AirPods Pro, regular aids via the audiologist) and now I hear it

You can turn off the hearing aid feature if it makes things worse.
