How to reduce wind noise on AirPods Pro 2?

The app shows I've got a good fit, but when I use an airpod on a bicycle ride, I hear the wind in my ear. (deaf in the other one).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

AppleCare wants me to make a genius bar appointment, which I'll do if there isn't a quicker solution.

Thank you

Disclaimer: I haven’t yet bought AirPod Pros, though I do use regular (amateur) AirPods.

I’ve found that AirStreamz Cycling Wind Noise Reducers, available on Amazon, work really good at reducing wind noise for both my regular AirPods as well as some over-the-ear Bose earphones I have. Basically, these are furry strips that go on your helmet strap and disrupt the airflow across your ears. They are also helpful for general riding as they dramatically reduce wind noise and let you hear the road better.

Any luck with that trek62?

The ANC is not the primary blocker for paying attention to traffic during biking. The main audio impairment is the F16 fighter yet sound that is added over it when wind passes. In order to hear a podcast speaker, i need to increase the volume close to maximum.

my workarounds are generally:

  • Hope there is just enough no wind
  • bike straight ahead and hold my head 90 degrees to left or right
  • just dont use them outside

i cant imagine the above is necessary, and always hoped some software upgrade would be able to mute the microphone while just listening and not calling. The mic is where the sound is added, why not disable it when not calling, dear Apple?:)

Bose overear headphones(mine are 6 years old) does a phenomenal job at wind reduction. I understand the ANC technology in such a device is just different from what is being put in any earbud.

I've tested the Sony ANC earbuds with that long modelname too. I dont think the wind reduction there was better or worse, bit the same. So maybe earbud ANC effectiveness is just not so good yet as the overear ANC effectiveness... ? Plenty others on the market that i havent tried though.

The idea of using earbuds is that they are small, light and hardly noticeable. For my (casual) biking and running, a helmet doesnt sound appealing. Maybe i should grow a beard and glue the AirStreamz on there.

The comply helped when it came to a better fit, not so much with wind noise. It's also disappointing that in restaurant type environments that they either muffle everything or allow some or all of the sound in. What they don't do is allow partial focus, the way that Bose Hearphones used to have. These worked great. It extremely frustrating that Bose didn't include this feature in any new devices and that no other company, that I'm aware of, has come out with it either. That was a game changer.
