Notifications only going to my Apple Watch and not to my iPhone

In iPhone, Watch app, My Watch tab, Notifications, for each app in the list (eg messages)

Set Custom with notifications off

Then notification goes to the phone always, but never the watch

This is in response to LD150 above - I replied to him - don’t know what happened, but his solution below works!

Because that's not the way Apple designed it.

Always been like you described, as KiltedTim said. If Apple support said it is a bug then they require further training

The only exception is incoming calls which ring on both.

That's not an "issue". That is by design. That's how it is supposed to work.

You can't.

If your iphone is open, you are presumbly looking at it and you get the notification there.
