How can I find out which apps are using excess storage on MacBook Pro?

My Apps are suddenly consuming 144GB of my 500GB storage. When I look to manage the Apps, I notice the sum of all Apps doesn't account for more than 10GB. Where the other 134GB are coming from? What has caused this sudden surge in storage usage by Apps?

@ maximilianfromamsterdam you are welcome from 🇨🇦

As I see it.

There are Cache Files, associated with some of the applications , that were automatically cleaned ( removed ) once the computer was shutdown and then restarted

Is is totally normal

Much like System Cache Files

Restart in Safe Mode.

This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files etc. etc.

The thing about Caches files, be they System Cache files or Third Party Cache files

They, cache files will be recreated as the System or the Application requires

Cache file are also there to make the System or Application to Launch more quickly

Hi PRP_53,

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it very much.

I just checked the window you suggested and the report I get from the Disk Utility is consistent with the Storage summary I get from the "About this Mac" query.

That being said, after having turned my Mac on & off twice, the amount of storage being used by Apps has been reduced (just as suddenly and unexpectedly) back to a more logical 16GB, so my problem seems to be solved, although I've no idea what caused either the surge or the reduction.

Cheers & thanks from Amsterdam!
