How to move photos of a specific time period from the iPhone (18.2) to the Mac (15.2)

I regularly move photos from the pre-previous year (now 2023) from my iPhone (iOS 18.2) to my Mac (MacOS 15.2).

In the current MacOS 15.2, I can't find a way to sort the images by date and display the details. So I can't select and move them appropriately.

I have not found a filter option for this either.

I don't remember how I did it last year with MacOS 14 and before that with 13, but it was never a problem AFAIR. Is this related to the overhauled Photos app?

How do I do that now?

Thanks for help!

Drat-- I may be of little use, then.

Have you tried using the Apple app Image Capture in your Applications folder? When I plug in my phone with IC I see a list of pictures with dates, but, for me, the list is incomplete. I think this is because I use "Optimize Storage" on my iPhone, and most of the original files are not actually there.

So I tried using IC with my iPad (first time!) and IC showed me all my pictures. I could sort them by Date in Image Capture, and select all the 2024 files.

So try Image Capture-- that may do just what you want!

I'm not sure what you man by "a way to sort the images by date and display the details." You can certainly sort the pictures on our iPhone by date captured or date added:

Sorting by Recently add is like the former Recents view, and sorting by date captured is how Library always worked. But you can't get details for each of hundreds of pictures at once.

What is it that you want different from this?

I use iCloud Photos to continuously update my devices, and I use Time Machine to back up the Mac. I love that it's all automatic.

Hi!

Thanks for your reply!

I think I did not make it clear enough, my apologies.

What I want to do is: connect my iPhone to my Mac by USB and than select all Photos from 2023 stored on my iPhone and move them into a directory on my Mac.

Any solution is welcome.

When I try to do so in Finder (on my Mac after connecting the iPhone) it automatically opens the Photos-App on my Mac. And there I see no way to either sort by date or filter for 2023?! Like it would be possible in a normal finderwindow with list view and then sort by date.
