iphone wont charge in car

i have two iPhones, neither will charge in the car not via the "cigarette lighter" nor via the USB port. i use different cables from the two charging sources. both phones charge fine from the mains (110V ) in the house.

Have you verified that the “lighter” outlet doesn’t have a blown fuse? It’s likely that the USB port is on the same circuit.
