How do I add my Apple account balance to Wallet?

I try to add it, but it ends up telling me “Your Apple Account balance cannot be added to Wallet at this time.” I am in the US, I have signed out and back into my Apple account, to no avail.

iPhone 11, iOS 18

Apple Account balance can only be used for the purchase of Apple products and services online at Apple.com/store, iTunes, Apple App Store and Apple Retail Stores.

Please review the information in the Apple Support article I linked below.

Caveat … this is unfortunately a “non-answer”

Some accounts have this feature, others don’t.

It’s unknown what mechanism decides.

As you probably already know, an AppleID balance can ONLY be used in exchange for Apple goods and services as described here:

However, the lack of a virtual balance card in wallet is not a significant loss of capability as described in next post

Thought it might be illustrative to show what “you’re missing” by NOT having your AppleID balance displayed on a virtual wallet card.

(In short: Not much)

These two screenshots — captured from an actual “live” AppleID wallet — display ALL that one can do.

Note that there’s not ANY way to “spend.”

It DOES allow you to more conveniently add to your AppleID balance using other payment cards already in your wallet.

It also provides a marginally more convenient means to monitor one’s AppleID balance AND to redeem gift cards onto your AppleID balance. (i.e. w/o needing to “drill-down” into Settings)

It also provides a transaction summary register; although the transactions include no detailed itemization to indicate what was purchased.

In summary, not having this “capabilityprobably isn’t something which should trigger most individual’s FOMO anxieties.
