2018 15" Macbook pro logicboard problem

Hi There,

Did anyone have this same problem. I've a 2018 15" MacBook pro, Model #A1990 EMC 3215. I am only use it at home and very less use on it. But after I has been away from home for a few months. When I came back the computer won't turned on or getting charge. I went to Apple Genius bar to check they said it's the logic board problem, and asking for $300.00 to fix it.

I'm the fans of Apple products. I have all kind of old mac such as Imac, Macbook Air, Mac mini even 2008 Macbook pro and Mac pro. From 2008 to 2017 year, they are all still working very well. But this 2018 model suddenly not power up it let me very very upset. That's the top model and is the newest one on me. Is any one have good suggestion how to deal with it? Thank you so much.

Alex

My first guess would be the battery completely lost it charge which can prevent an Apple laptop from powering on or even charging the battery.

However, a bad Logic Board would not surprise me either since the Logic Boards on the T2 Macs tend to have a higher rate of failure than any previous models.

I completely agree with the others here that the money spent on repairs is much better put towards a new laptop. The M2+ Macs are a huge improvement over the junk 2016-2020 Intel Macs with USB-C ports (they had so many design & manufacturing flaws it is embarrassing).

Hi, Alex.

It seems to me that you have three choices; you can fix it, replace it or leave it as is.

Devices fail. Some fail sooner than others. Some seem to just keep on keeping on. It's just bad fortune that this MBP has failed.

Your 2018 MBP is a considered a vintage Mac by Apple. In another year or so it will be listed as an obsolete machine. It's best days are behind it. It's time to plan for its replacement.

If a full price replacement is not in the cards for you at this time, consider something from Apple's Certified Refurbished lineup. These are all factory refurbished and sold with Apple's full 1 year warranty.
