iPad Swipe Misdirection on M4 iPad Pro

My M4 iPad Pro often a sudden touch/swipe misdirection.

I'll reach with my finger, moving it up or down to scroll vertically, and it will read it as a left or right swipe, taking off the page I am viewing to a previous page or tab. Sometimes my finger movement may have been questionable - like coming at the screen from slightly left or right, so the screen reads it as a left or right swipe. But often, even when I'm quite sure I am scrolling perfectly vertical, it still swipes me left or right to a previous page.

I went into Touch Sensitivity, but I don't want to change the Hold Before Recognizing duration or any other touch sensitivity settings...just improve its direction recognition. Advice?
