How to fix unresponsive scrolling on iPad mini 6 after updating to iPadOS 26.2.1?

Hello all, I've just updated my iPad mini 6 to 26.2.1 and now found it has become unusable. I have a disability that effect my hands. The screen no longer scrolls smoothly when it actually scroll. I can flick the screen and nothing happens then it will suddenly move in the direction of the flick. Trying to move to another screen is a nightmare as it takes ,multiple attempts. I'm actually typing this on a android as I can't use my iPad.

After a Google there is loads and loads of thread with the same issue but no solution

Any ideas.

Be aware that your iPad may appear sluggish immediately following update as many background housekeeping tasks will be running. Any performance impact should be temporary - and for a point-update should clear with a few hours. By contrast, if you have applied a major version update (e.g. updating from iPadOS 18.x to iPadOS 26.x), reindexing the filesystem and assets may take a day or two. Leaving the iPad connected to its Power Adapter while housekeeping tasks conclude can speed the process.

If your iPad is not operating as expected, try a forced-restart - as this will often clear an isolated or post-update software issue:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

If the problem persists after performing the restart, it may be necessary to reset your iPad settings. While this reset will not cause any loss of data, as a precaution, it is always wise to ensure that you have a current iCloud or iTunes backup before performing the reset:

When you are happy to proceed, you can perform the reset from iPad settings:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset > Reset All Settings

If the problem still doesn’t clear, the next step is to reset the iPad to factory settings:

Otherwise, you would be best advised to seek assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page. Alternatively and perhaps easier, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

You might also visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad - and you can explore your available options:

Have contacted Apple Support as suggested? If not you should do so - as this is your only option for remote diagnostics/support.

By contrast, the Genius Bar offers hands-on support - but obviously requires that the iPad is presented to the technicians at an Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP). Be aware that an AASP may be much closer than your nearest Apple Store.

The only remaining option is to consider Apple's mail-in repair service:
