Major issues after installing IOS 18

Immediately after installing IOS 18 on my iPhone 12 Pro, I have experienced some pretty major issues leading me to want to throw my phone into a river. I thought installing 18.2 might fix what 18 messed up, but no such luck.

I lost most of my contacts. I go to a text thread with a person, it shows their name, then when I send a text or receive, it changes from their name to a number. I try to save to existing contact and there isn't one. Then I have to save as new which means I lost all other contact information I had saved such as addresses, email address, etc.

I had to re-do my emergency contacts. Why???

I had to change my screensaver. Why??

The settings are awful!!!! Why would they bury things like Messages within a subfolder?

It no longer syncs with iCloud and I cannot figure out how to fix it!!

Settings don't stick. I have my location to show as always on Life 360. Yet, several times a day I get a popup asking me to change it to Always. Which I do every time.

Nobody has time for all of this inconvenience. I'm super close to ridding myself of Apple products.

Hello jkcmom1179,

From your description I can't tell what is causing your problems. However, one guess would be that you are out of local storage (or very low). Start here:

How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Note: deleted photos are not necessarily deleted from the phone. You may have to go to Photos > Albums > Recently Deleted and delete them from there to truly free up storage.

Then restart your phone.

You also mentioned that your iCloud syncs are failing. You might out of iCloud storage. See this:
