Cannot switch from sim to eSIM because Sim is locked

I cannot switch my SIM card to

eSims because it is locked. It was transferred from my Xr iPhone to my 16Pro.

iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 18

Contact your carrier to get the SIM unlocked and for assistance in getting the eSIM set up.

Only your carrier can unlock your phone. Apple is not involved with this at all.
