My Face ID isn't required to open my phone

When I open my phone it automatically opens ... doesn't require my Face ID . It is on

iPhone 13 Pro Max, iOS 18

Are you looking at the phone? If yes, it's very likely using your face to unlock it. There's no notification that Face ID is needed. It just sees your face and unlocks the phone. Try turning the phone around away from your face and try to open it. If it goes to your passcode, then you know Face ID is working as designed.

Are you looking at the phone? If yes, it's very likely using your face to unlock it. There's no notification that Face ID is needed. It just sees your face and unlocks the phone.
