Activation Lock issues with iPad purchased from Authorized Seller

Hello. I had purchased my iPad over a year ago and have been having issues with Activation Lock.

Since I am not able to remember the Apple ID I created for my iPad, I have then resorted to using Activation Lock. Figured that this would be very easy to do since I purchased the product through an authorized seller but was hesitant in using the feature since I didn’t want my data deleted on my iPad.

I already provided the proof of purchase to Apple and they keep rejecting my information. I purchased the item myself directly from the store via their official app! I spoke to my store’s customer service and they even informed me that what they gave to me was a receipt.

What exactly do I need to show at this point to have my Activation Lock removed from my iPad? Overall I am very disappointed with my experience with Apple.

If BJ's is not an authorized reseller, and Apple insists upon a receipt from an authorized reseller, then you are out of luck as far as getting Apple to unlock the device. That means it is all on the device owner to ensure they are never in the position of needing the service. I am not lecturing you, I am simply pointing out the reality of the situation. This is one of the disadvantages of trying to save money by buying through a third party vendor.

In theory since BJ's has the original receipt from Apple (if that is from whom they purchased the device) then BJ's could apply for an unlock, but I would say good luck in getting them to ask for it. :-(

I purchased the iPad from BJ’s. Never marked it as lost as it’s been in my home the entire time aside from a trip to the Apple Store.

This iPad is a personal device, for personal usage.

Here’s the issue I face. The receipt/purchase historyI received from BJ’s has all sorts of numbers (transaction, NPC, membership number, etc.) but does not list the serial number of the iPad or any sort of number that would identify my iPad. When I asked BJ’s for any other type of documentation that could show proof of purchase, they said that the purchase history and receipt are one in the same and had nothing else to send over.

From here, I don’t know how to proceed.

If that’s the case, then how am I ever going to get out of this predicament? Figured that BJ’s would be an authorized seller since they sell various Apple products in their company.

Managed to find an invoice that arrived in shipping separate from what BJ’s provided to me but am still not finding any sort of information that Mac Jim had listed.
