Extra spaces after typing 'I' in Safari on MacBook Air

Any time I type the letter I it will add extra spaces after like you see here. I cannot describe how maddening it is. It has done this with my last 3 Macs. So it transfers with my Mac. No one at the apple store can figure it out. I have no idea why I keep buying Macs thinking it will solve with the new one. It doesn't seem to do it when I use Chrome, only Safari. Can someone help me out here? Ive been going in and deleting the spaces in every thing I type for the last decade.

Does this problem exist in all of your text apps, of just in Safari?

Have you explored the features of Text Replacement on the Mac?

If you cannot eliminate the problem, maybe you can define a text replacement for "I " (i-double or triple space) and make that "I "(i-single space)? Just a thought.
