Siri can’t tell me how old people WILL turn

My contacts have their FULL DOB on their contact information saved. Even i have the same with my information.

my phone is updated etc.

you try and and “hey sirie, how old will *person’s name* turn this year?” And it keeps replying how old they are LAST WEDNESDAY 😭🤡

i ask “what was the date last Wednesday” because i cba rn to see the calendar and it says “sorry i don’t understand” LIKE WHAT EVEN. How can’t you understand that all i’m asking you is what the date was on the last Wednesday you keep mentioning?!😭🤡

it’s actually so ridiculously incompetent.

Have you tried asking, "How old is <contact>?" That works perfectly for me.

I get the same thing. However, asking it what the date is next Wednesday works. I guess Siri doesn't like to live in the past.

I'm British and I didn't understand the term "how old will people turn" when I read the title of your post and I only opened it out of curiosity. It's not a phrase I've ever heard anyone use until today so it doesn't surprise me that Siri doesn't understand what you mean.
They don't say things like "When will you turn 21?" in British English? Interesting. Like the old saying, "Two countries separated by a common language." I agree that the particular phrasing the OP used is unusual.

Yep, I'd say "when will you turn 21" or "she turned 18 this year" but I've never heard "how old will you turn this year".

Idk what day and age you’re living. That’s literally normal English

I'm familiar with the phrase, so perhaps you meant to reply to someone else. Also, English is not just one monolithic language. There is British English, U.S. English, Indian English, Canadian English, etc. Vocabulary, usage, spelling conventions, and idioms are different. Especially idioms. The fact that the first person who responded to you was unfamiliar with this particular idiom is hardly surprising. What country are you in? Is English your first language?

The actual question siri got asked was “how old will *individual’s name* turn?”

In the region where I live, that's an incomplete question. I would say, "How old will Sally turn next year?" Unless you specify the when you're asking about, the question doesn't make sense.

read properly.

Don't be rude.

the way you quoted the question, i asked siri that version of the question exactly like that and it still gave the dumb *** answer of last Wednesday.

I'm sorry but that is very confusing in the version of English with which I am familiar.

Every english may have it’s own unique vibe to it, it’s own kind of slang, and grammar but the common sense of how to ask a question is the same everywhere in the world.

No, the sense is not necessarily the same. You haven't yet answered what version of English you use. It would also be helpful to know what language you have Siri set to.

Yeah it did a accidentally reply to you not the person it was supposed to.

and Looool i weren’t being rude.

and your example of how there is different english in the world is literally hardly a valid argument because in my main post i literally said

I REWORDED MY QUESTION in many ways so siri could give me an answer.

i may not be from the same place as you but i’m pretty sure no no matter where you’re from and what english you use, it is literally common sense to know that the 5W’s and How exist 🤣🤣🤣

i asked Siri how old with *individual’s name* turn THIS YEAR. Giving it the when exactly like you said.

Idk what day and age you’re living. That’s literally normal English 🤣🤣🤣 you have just never heard that question because it isn’t a regular question to ask. When one usually asks about ages its usually to do with one specific individual. In that moment i quoted “people” because i was referring to how when i ask siri about any and every individual at all ik in my contacts, whether it be my bestfriend, mum, sister, guy friend, dad it gives that response. I never said that “how old will people turn” is the actual question siri got asked. The actual question siri got asked was “how old will *individual’s name* turn?”

read properly.

and i’ve reworded it for siri in many ways. Thank you. And it still gives the same response.
