Unable to delete Apple apps on MacBook Pro to clear storage space
I am going through apps to make my macbook pro a bit faster. Why can't I delete apple apps I will never use e.g. stocks, stickies etc.
Thank you

Apple already protects Mac quite well: Protecting against malware in macOS - Apple Support.
The antivirus might not be necessary. You could try installing it and do some test to confirm or invalidate that it is the cause of the issue.
Those apps are an integral part of macOS. This is an Apple decision and there is no workaround.
This being said, you wouldn't recover much storage space from deleting these apps. You may want to look at System Settings > General > Storage to see what elements are taking the most storage.
Oh thank you. I thought so but was not sure. You meant uninstall it i assume. I am so glad I found this page, everyone is so helpful. I am 75 and am pretty tech savvy but things like this often confuse me.
Oops, you are right: I meant uninstalling.
On my end, I do not use a separate antivirus. I rely exclusively on Apple’s protections. Other people feel more comfortable having extra protection. This is really a personal choice.
“Other Users & Shared” contains files created and modified, or shared by other user accounts on your Mac. Considering the size (500 MB), I would not worry about it. On my end I have more than 10 GB.
To see this data, open Finder, go to Macintosh HD > Users to see le list of registered users and the Shared folder.
Thank you always good to know. It just seems so slow. I must have so much stuff I don’t need. Lol.
A culprit for a slow Mac is often an antivirus or an optimizing software such as Clean My Mac. Those applications run in the background and can slow down a Mac quite a bit.
I do have Avast and do scans, but I will go through to see what it might be. Thank you.
It is but if I don't need it I am fine with that. Sorry to keep on but what exactly is " other users and shared"? It is using 489 MB. And when I click on it nothing happens.
Thanks again.
