New MacBook keeps auto-capitalizing when I keep telling it not to.

I always, always, always use lowercase letters when texting, and I always set all my apple devices to NOT auto-capitalize. never had a problem with it before.

I just got this brand new 2024 MacBook, and have told it repeatedly to NOT auto-capitalize my sentences... both in the settings, and directly from messages by right-clicking... and it keeps on capitalizing.

(I know, I know, "why don't you just use capital letters??" ...because it's part of my personality, okay?!)

ANYWAYS having an expensive new MacBook and having to go back and UN-capitalize stuff whenever I type anything is so annoying.

and yes, I've restarted the computer several times, and checked and un-checked and re-checked the setting several times. it has never worked correctly.

help!! thanks!!

If a simple reboot of your Mac doesn’t fix things, see if the problem still happens in safe mode.

How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Safe mode will often correct weird software behavior by forcing the OS to do disk repair, clear caches and other housekeeping and temporarily disables third-party mods. When you're in safe boot, the machine won’t be at its best performance, especially with graphics, but that's expected.

Make the change while booted in safe mode and see if it will 'take'.

Does the same thing happen while in Safe mode?

You can exit safe mode by restarting your Mac normally, then reevaluate the problem.
