PDF compatibility issue with MacBook Pro print to PDF

Hello,

when I send a PDF attachment I made from my Mac, "print to pdf", there are several people who say they can not open it, is it in Adobe acrobat format" ? I do not know what tot tell them. they are using a PC, not apple PC, and they have acrobat reader.


I do not know the answer. If t is not in acrobat, what do I do to make acrobat PDFs so I can get the documents to those people ?

First a bit of clarification, PDF is the document format used in Acrobat.


As to your issue, since we're getting this information second hand rather than communicating directly with the people having the problem, it's difficult to offer anything certain. I've never had a problem using Acrobat to open a PDF generated on a Mac, but PDF is a bit imprecise, so it's possible that either there's a small incompatibility with the Windows version of Acrobat Reader and the PDFs a Mac generates, or the recipients aren't using current versions, or there's just a bug in that version of Acrobat.


You don't say what application you're trying to generate a PDF from, but some Mac apps can save or export to PDF directly. If yours does, try that rather than the Print-to-PDF method. If your app doesn't, let us know what app you're trying to export from and someone may be able to offer additional suggestions.


And a final thought; it may be that the method you're using to send the document could be corrupting it. If the above doesn't help, you might try sending it a different way and see if that makes any difference.

If Adobe Acrobat is of no Option...

MS Word: Do you have this in a Microsoft Word document? Not everyone has MS word, but Microsoft has the Word Reader, for those who don't have it. MS Office is quite popular. Have them go here: Microsoft Office Word Viewer - Microsoft

If it's happening through two different sending accounts, then the problem is most likely on the recipient's end, not on yours. Though if you're trying using an email client, try using a web browser and the web interface for the email provider, just to rule out one variable.


A slow or lagging email connection would be very unlikely to corrupt an attachment. At least I've never had one do that in all the years I've been sending and receiving emails. The only thing that happens is that the message doesn't get sent at all or takes a long time.

Ah..... Right. there are different PDF generators. ok, got it. So, if I make a PDF using "docscan", it is a different program so not everyone can read it. If I try to print that pdf on my computer using "print to Pdf" after I choose "print", I might still be generating a pdf that someone can not open, or can not read. Is that what I should understand?


in other words, I use Docscan on my iPhone, and sometimes I use the "print" option form the pull down menue and choose paint to PDF. ... and when someone says they can not open the pdf I sent via email, my idea was to just print to PDF again, hoping it fixed any glitch. (now you see my lack of computer use know how).

hmmm, so then I have a new question. There is one company, when I send an email with no attachment, it arrives. When I attach a PDF to the email, it does not arrive. they tell me it is not in their junk mail / spam and suggest there is a problem with me sending from my .iCloud account. so I made a google email. Same thing happens.

Is that a corruption from my side of PDF type ?

Can it be internet connection problem ? Like that as it is uploading, and the connection goes out, so it corrupts.


sometimes I get that pop up that my email can not be sent from ...iCloud.com edit, retry.... can that be my poor internet connection, corrupted PDF ?
