iPhone leaves overheating msg when I plug in to recharge
I plugged my iPhone in to charge it and a message came up saying it needs to cool down before it charges. It morning and cool here no reason for overheating.
iPhone 14 Pro Max, iOS 18

I can understand the concern, but your phone isn't overheating. We ALL get this message now, when we use Fast Charging. The phone is charging up to a certain level, then the phone will tell you charging will resume when the phone is cooler. That doesn't say or mean the phone is overheating. It is Apple Speak for ensuring there is no possibility heat could prematurely age your battery and is not cause for concern. Again, we ALL get this now.
If your phone was actually overheating, it would be display a thermometer on the screen and tell you you can't use the phone until it cools down.

Have you tried moving your iPhone to a cooler environment, preferably away from direct sunlight, to allow it to cool down and resume charging?

You're welcome. Sometimes, I wish Apple would word things differently. But this is a new feature and something which isn't to be a concern.
I agree. There also wasn't anything regarding this in any support articles. I did check the "iPhone is too hot or cold article," to no avail.
This is not overheating, but rather you are using fast charging as stated. This also won't prevent you from using your iPhone, and is normal to get.
Got it. I appreciate you for teaching me something new.
Thank you. Good information.
