Authenticator App for Apple Devices
Does Authenticator App provide authentication codes that can be used for any website or app? If so, how do I access those codes on my iMac, my iPhone, my iPad and my Apple watch?

Yes, Apple’s Passwords app can provide TOTP codes just like any number of other software authenticators (e.g. Google, Microsoft, etc.).
See section titled: Set up automatic verification codes

Thank you. Thank you especially for your quick response.
I have come to understand that the "authenticator" applications that I have been trying to utilize are not number generators like Microsoft or Google, but repositories for "identification confirmation" that I create and store there. I already have Dashlane for that purpose. I am a bit thick-sculled and it took me considerable false steps before I finally realized this!
You’re welcome … and you’re not being thick-skulled.
The modern security “business” is difficult to understand for far too many.
Even those of us who fancy ourselves as semi “security-conversant” sometimes get tongue-tied on keys / key seeds / passkeys / security keys / car keys / MFA / 2FA / 2SV / TOTP …
The Authenticator I use is just for websites that I am aware of.
Thank you.
Thank you for the comforting words. :-)
