Auto update does not work

None of the apps get auto updated even though the auto update option is on this. I’ve seen on all my devices. Any time I have to update the manually and the worst part is how Apple handles my apps in the App Store section. We have to fish out the currently installed APPS among all the non-installed labs, which is really funny which android has already provided where in all your installed. Apps are seen above the non-installed non-available apps and we finally have a tab which was apps not installed on iPhone. why do we need that we need apps currently in App Store and and auto update all option please this is such a simple thing which is already there in play store please learn and provide this
