Apple Watch Ultra not tracking swimming activities accurately

IWatch 10 recorded my open swim accurately and provided maps.

i upgraded to IWatch ultra and it will not do same. It had added Dive - useless and severity of workout - confusing and useless.

How do I get ultra to perform what the old watch did?

I removed my screen and watch protectors to enable the watch to connect to gps and record my open water swim. The Apple cover was found to be interfering with GPS reception - stopping the Ultra from recording my swims.

No one at Apple seem to be interested that their cover is affecting their watch!

i reset watch and swam - same - just registered a few yards -even with screen protector removed. Stopped swimming and removed the protection cover - recorded distance accurately! So the cover was interfering with gps connection!

was told the plastic cover would not affect gps. Clearly it does.

instructions provided to reset, didn’t tell me to set watch up as a new watch - I paired it with my previous, as before - so don’t know if that would have fixed problem without removing cover?

Did you already erase your watch and pair it again, this time setting it up as a new device instead of using the backup data? You will not lose your Health data by doing that.

Are you using the default Open Water Swim workout?

Location Services are enabled for Apple Watch Workout in Settings/Privacy & Security/Location Services/ on your iPhone?

If you attached a cover to your watch, this is the reason for an unclear GPS signal. It is hard for the watch to keep a GPS fix in the water while being only a very short time above water for each swim stroke. A cover may act as a shield in this situation.

Setting the watch up as a new device is recommended, if a software issue could be the reason for your watch not working correctly.
