Clean and recycle 2013 iMac?

What is the best way to recycle an iMac? I bought a new one from Apple but it didn’t offer a trade-in option. Can I still take it to an Apple Store? Do I need to make an appointment and how do I clean it/wipe it first? Thanks!

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.15

First, follow this article to properly wipe your iMac ⇢

Second, you don’t need an appointment. It’s likely that your 2013 iMac is now too old for a Trade-In value, and Apple will just recycle it for free. So just drop it off at your nearest Apple Store, and they will handle the rest responsibly.
