Locked Note requiring password on iPhone

Hi, My locked note was locked using my Face ID, until recently and now asking for my password. I don't remember making a unique passcode, but it seems i must have. I have tried 100 things it could possibly be to no avail.

Is it possible to reset my phone and restore from an earlier back up before i locked the note? would this cause the note to be unlocked again? Has anyone tried this before?

TIA

Unfortunately, FaceID was only a “shortcut” to avoid having to re-enter the note’s password.

However, there is no workaround or backdoor.

The password MUST correctly entered or the note remains forever locked.

The “good news” — as you’ve discovered — is that there is no “missed-attempt limit” or “lockout.”

Sorry.
