Fitness+ seriously needs to expand the selection of workouts
Every time there is an update to the Apple ecosystem of services and hardware, I consider once more signing up for Apple Fitness+ as a way to augment what I do at the gym, but when I go to review available workouts in the hopes there are new ones, I am once more disappointed by the stalled lack of variety. Why are there are still no tai chi or kettlebell programs?! Also, the streaming to tv seems a clunky afterthought.
Fitness+ been around since at least 2021 and that is long enough to have created and added new content along with updates, but quite a lot has not been updated in literally years. Example: The Fitness for Seniors program list seems to have stalled at only eight episodes and hasn't been updated since 2021. Apparently Seniors don't use this service, as evidenced by the stunning lack of variety offered to that age bracket. Noted. Yet the "Time To Walk" series however was updated January 13? I don't know about anyone else but listening to someone prattle on while I'm walking is not relaxing or meditative. Time with my now-retired husband lets me experience that for free, all day, every day. Balance, OTOH, has knocked it out of the park with their variety and services offered.
Overall, Fitness+ seems like a forgotten service only supported monetarily by those who probably forgot they were still signed up to pay for it. Lack of updates combined with not much (realistic) variety, does not make a good value at any price point, at least not until it gets regular across-the-board content updates, which I seriously doubt will happen now that it's 2025.
