Google Maps Navigation Voice is too quiet with Bluetooth and podcasts on iPhone 16 Pro Max

I’m using the new Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max with Google Maps for navigation, and I often listen to podcasts via Spotify while driving. My phone is connected to my car via Bluetooth.

Here’s the issue: The podcast pauses as expected when Google Maps gives a navigation prompt, but I can’t hear the navigation voice at all. After a few seconds (when the prompt would have ended), the podcast resumes as usual.

I’ve noticed that if I increase the car volume while the navigation prompt is supposed to play (but is silent), the Google Maps voice gets louder, and I can hear it temporarily. However, after the prompt, the podcast continues at its normal volume, as if I hadn’t adjusted anything. The next time a navigation prompt plays, it’s silent again, and I have to repeat the process.

It seems like Google Maps is playing navigation prompts at a very low volume by default.

How can I fix this issue so I can hear the navigation voice properly without constantly adjusting the volume?
