my new Mac book pro has a different keyboard layout to a uk layout . It looks like European . I am having a problem with typing backslash . /
my keyboard has the backslash on key 7. I press shift and the 7 key becomes an @ not a/

I don't know of any input source that does that. Could you tell us what you have on the list at system settings > keyboard > text input > edit > all input sources?
