Legitimate iCloud payment inquiry

I keep getting an email saying that I need to update my payment information or my iCloud will be disabled. Is this a scam or a legitimate question?

The message is a scam attempt. Do not interact with the message or the sender.

Recognize and avoid social engineering schemes including phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support
