Gen 2 IPod cannot sign in to ITunes Store

I have a generation 2 IPod Touch and I wanted to connect it to ITunes and use it for music. I went into the store settings and tried to sign in with my Apple ID, but I got a message saying "Cannot Connect to ITunes Store". I tried to open ITunes on my computer and connect the device over WiFi, but that didn't work either (I have a windows computer if that matters). I think the device might just be too old, but if there is a way to get it working I would greatly appreciate the help! Thank you!

Your iPod can no longer access the iTunes store as the iPod will be using iOS 4.2.1, but access to the store now requires iOS 10.0 or later.

However, you can use iTunes (the desktop programme) to buy music from the iTunes Store via iTunes, Amazon or Bandcamp etc. as well as copying from CD into iTunes. If you purchase music from other stores (i.e. Amazon etc.), you download it to your computer and then add it to your iTunes Library. Finally, you copy that library to your iPod.

Try connecting your iPod to your computer by using the iPod's USB power cable, rather than by Wi-Fi.

If you don't know how to perform any of the steps above, post back with specific questions and we can probably help you.
