Macbook Air & Anker Docking Station - disables "optimized battery charging"
have a new macbook air and added an anker docking station for my home office. Great product - allows me to connect everything i need to it and charge iphone & headset. Been running with this since Sept 2024.
I upgraded my iPad over the holidays and noticed the "optimized battery charging" limited the battery charge to 80%. Checked on the Macbook Air/Anker combo and noticed that it did NOT limit it to 80% even though it is set to do so. See pic below - set for optimized but charging continues to 100%.
Tactically this isn't a big deal BUT Apple put this feature in to lengthen the life of the battery and i'd like to take advantage of it.
I contacted Anker and they said "nothing we can do". I asked for a product enhancement be created (they agreed) but am coming to this community as it's an Apple option that's beign overridden. I would have though that iOS would control it's own charging.
Oh fyi - the Anker connects to the thunderbolt usb-c port on the side.
Anyone else experience this or have any ideas how to 'fix'?
Thanks...
MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.7
