Why am I unable to install apps on my Ultra 2 watch?

I just upgraded to an Apple Ultra 2 watch. So I have several apps that work on my phone and I have checked to see if they work on the Ultra 2 and they do. On my watch app I click install and it will not install them to the actual watch.

When I try to do it from the watch on the app store it tells me this message on the watch screen Unable to download "Theres a problem with a previous purchase. To review the problem, see your purchase history" Then it asks for my password. I enter it and it does absolutely nothing. Basically goes back to the same screen on watch where I found the app I want.

I have no restrictions on my watch besides a passcode. So not sure why it is not letting apps download that I know are compatible with the Ultra 2.


Very frustrating when I have a watch which basically has all the stock apps on it that come with it. It's very weird since it won't let me download Pandora but when I have pandora playing on my phone the music shows up on my watch screen.

Hopefully someone can advise the issues. I've found some answers which say restart both devices, make sure devices software is up to date. They are both up to date and restarting did nothing.

Did you check, if your payment information for your Apple Account is still complete and there is enough balance in your Apple Account?

If you need to change or update your Apple Account payment method - Apple Support


In case these settings are still correct and complete, you should contact the official Apple Support and ask them to look into your personal data from their side. You can use this link as a start:

Yes finally got on a chat with support and they suggested that. I actually had a subscription that processed but some reason the charges were pending. Had to post in Apple Cash then fix credit card info.

But it just would’ve been nice if it actually told me that rather than having to go to support because nothing in the messages that I got suggested an issue with a subscription fee and you wouldn’t think anything of it if the subscription processes and I was using it. They told me that sometimes they wait a few days to actually make an issue of it.
