Security Concern-Trade in dead iphone

My IPhone XR suddenly died and is completely unresponsive. I now have an iPhone 16 but I need to trade in the XR. Is there a way to erase it by overheating it or freezing it or submerging it or something else?

iPhone XR, iOS 18

No and the chances of Apple giving you any trade value for a phone which isn't operational isn't very high. One of the things you have to say when you trade in a phone is whether it works. You can't say it does. So Apple won't likely give you anything for it.

I'd go to your closest Apple Store and see if they will, but don't be surprised if they won't.
