Help! Just found ago a few days ago my AppleCare for MacBook Air will renew soon. It is $65.00 MONTHLY!! I cannot afford that. Every effort I have made on my own to cancel has been useless. Someone please help!!

Where are you seeing this “they want me to finish set up for renew”. You have not told us whether you purchased AppleCare with your Mac. Did you and how much was it if you did? We can’t help you if you cannot or will not provide us with basic information. Post a screen shot of the About menu you were told to go to. And you cannot cancel something you didn’t sign up for in the first place.
Did you purchase AppleCare with your 2024 MacBook Air? If so did you select a one time payment or monthly installments? By the way your Mac should still be under factory warranty unless you bought in early Jan 2024.
On your Mac go to System Settings->About and look for the AppleCare+ coverage. Tell us what you see there.
