My iPhone 16 Pro camera switch focus instead of shifting

If i take my iphone 16 pro camera, start doing video, i focus object that is about 2-3 meters away and then i aim it to a closer object and try to focus that, about 20-30 centimeters away (or even closer). The camera doesnt shift focus smoothly but switches cameras visibly. Is that normal for new iphones or is it some camera issue (or software issue)? Tried the same thing with my old ip13 pro and my friends ip15, these ones shift the focus smoothly.
